Update 1- 10th October 2005

New paragraph

13.8   Younger children in the village need a playground suited to their needs.  This need is currently met in the playground to the south of the Square reached from West Street by the Drong alley and from East Street by the path adjacent the Baptist Church. This is considered to be the most suitable location.  However, the playground needs to evolve to meet changing standards in both guidelines/legislation and play equipment  The Parish Council has an ongoing commitment to providing play facilities for the younger children in the village.  The regular replacement and improvement of the equipment in the playground and improvement of the playground itself together with regular maintenance is a considerable financial drain on the Parish Council and funding will be sought whenever it is possible.

New Action Point

Action Point  Yo7   Replace and modernise the Playground equipment.  Place more seating around the playground to involve other age groups.  Seek ways of involving other  funding partners in this project.

Update 2 - 8th May 2006

New paragraph

8.10      The library is an essential service to the village.  The current library building is of a relatively modern design and in good condition.  It is well placed with easy access for both residents and those coming from further away and has good parking provision near the doctors surgery and village hall.  This is a place where residents meet and chat and stroll to the other village facilities.  The internet access provision is well used.  The current County Council initiative to save money by closing this and other village libraries is not a reasonable policy.  The very infrequent and expensive bus service, high parking charges and poor availability of convenient car spaces in Wareham and Swanage are an obvious disincentive to residents of Corfe Castle who might use those libraries.  Mobile library vehicles should be used to enhance not replace existing buildings.

 New Action Point

Action Point Ed4    To support and maintain a permanent public library with internet access and other facilities in the village to further enhance education for all in the community.
